Back to Basics
After some less than comfortable realizations and having to come to terms with them, I’m back to programming and hoping to get a PR done soon. Shouldn’t be hard, but we’ll see how I can screw that up. It is disheartening to have so much time and effort go to waste, but one also just has to accept that it’s a very real and likely possibility, especially when working on something for someone else. Of course, I knew this back then, why I plan to have some of my things be an addon, rather than something to PR, but that’s a bridge I’ll cross when I get there. For now, I’ll start small, very small. My magnum opi, the Watz supercompressor and supercomputer (lots of “super”) were taken out back and shot without me even realizing it, but I suppose that’s just how the cookie crumbles sometimes. It is a waste, but if I wanted a different outcome, it should have just been an addon from the start.
Enough complaining. I should have plenty of free time, no job lets you do that, barring financial concerns. I do have the wiki and real life errands to run, but other than that, I shouldn’t have any excuse to not use this time to better myself and become truly proficient at the craft. If I want something done, I’ll do it myself. No begging for other people to 3D model something for me that’ll either never get added or be removed after a month, or worse, grovelling to the megacorporations to have some AI model generate some slop for me. Virtually anything beats that. It’s a lot to learn, but hey, I’m supposed to be the one that likes learning on the fly, aren’t I?
